Aidon Westcott is a mixed media visual artists and curator. He has held 17 successful solo exhibitions locally and exhibits regularly at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. His solo exhibition ‘Memory’ was featured on the main program of the ABSA KKNK 2012 Festival in Oudtshoorn .
He graduated cum laude (B-Tech Degree – Fine Art: Painting) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2003.
His artworks are frequently exhibited with Trent Read at Knysna Fine Art (Knysna), The Cape Galley (Cape Town), The Art Business Contemporary Gallery and Consultancy (Piketberg), Strydom Gallery (George), Christopher Moller Art (Cape Town),Dorpstraat Galery(Stellenbosch) Art Afrique (Johannesburg), Ebony Design (Cape Town & Franschoek),AVA Gallery (Association of Visual Arts), Fried Contemporary Gallery(Pretoria) Art B (Belville,Cape Town), D-Street Gallery (Stellenbosch),Underculture Contemporary Gallery (Port Elizabeth) Gallery at Grande Provence (under the curatorship of Trent Read-Knysna Fine Art)and Rust-en-Vrede (Durbanville, Cape Town)
He has participated in numerous group shows around South Africa, including a group show of selected Eastern Cape artists titled “Art From The Ground Up” which was showcased and held at the legislate building in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany. Further to this, he has also held a successful workshop for the television programme, Top Billing. His work hangs in Eastern Cape Arts and Culture Collection , SMAC Art Gallery Collection,Media24,SAIAB,Anglo Boer War Museum and the prestigious Ellerman House Contemporary Art Collection.
