About

Underculture Contemporary, based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is an art- and creativity-focused consultancy

It operates as part art gallery, part-agency, and part-mentor to artists. It aims to address both sides of the equation: catering for a discerning and culturally aware urban audience on one hand, and developing artists to be technically on-point, conceptually challenging, and, above all, professional.

Underpinning this, Underculture has two other guiding goals. Firstly, it aims to promote and offer quality contemporary fine arts from selected emergent artists in the greater Nelson Mandela Bay metro and Eastern Cape. And, secondly, it acts as a reputable and trustworthy platform for the development and promotion of promising local career artists. Importantly, Underculture Contemporary is committed to a single overriding idea: that every artistic output and every single artist under its management represents something powerful, new, challenging, relevant, captivating and fresh.
